After we clean up, we strap your can shut with a safety-orange Bear Straplock — our temporary bear lock, clipped from handle to handle with a quick-release carabiner. It secures your trashcan and it’s how you know the job’s done before you even check the photos. One thing to remember: pop the clip before pickup day so the truck can empty your can (it’s printed right on the strap).
Bio-enzymatic odor treatment — $9
Bears follow their noses, and the smell lives in the seams, hinges, and lid of your can — not the air around it. This optional add-on saturates the interior with a bio-enzymatic neutralizer that breaks down the food residue itself, so your can smells like nothing worth investigating. Hi, I’m Ben. I started Bear Mess Express because I love living where the wild things are and because I kept watching neighbors start their mornings gagging over a shredded trash bag. I’m an Asheville local who’d rather be on a trail than anywhere else, and I built this crew around a simple idea: the bears were here first, the mess is temporary, and nobody’s day should be ruined by either. Keep them wild, keep your yard clean — we’ll handle the part in between.

How fast can you get here?
Most cleanups are done same or next day. Rush (+$69) jumps the line and gets our first available crew — guaranteed to be cleaned up in 4 hours or less.
What exactly will you clean up?
Everything the bear left behind — including broken glass and yes, even the dirty diapers (we’ve seen it all). We rake, collect, and rebag it into your own bins with the lids closed. The only hard no: used hypodermic needles and dead animals. If we find those, we stop, photograph, and sort out next steps with you.
What if the bear is still hanging around?
Usually a horn honk sends it ambling off — bears want breakfast, not company. If one insists on sticking around, our crew waits it out or circles back a little later at no extra charge.
Will the bear come back?
It might — bears remember food sources. That’s why every cleanup ends with your can strapped shut with a Bear Straplock, and why the enzyme odor treatment exists: a trash can that doesn’t smell like dinner doesn’t get flipped.
When am I charged?
